Ford Sees Profits Drop Amid Tariffs and EV Threats

Ford Motor Co. has warned that its pretax profit may drop by $2 billion or more this year, citing lower vehicle prices, costly new-model launches, and potential tariffs under President Donald Trump. The second-largest US automaker now expects earnings before interest and taxes of no more than $8.5 billion in 2024, down from $10.2 billion the previous year.

Industry-wide price declines are expected to be around 2%, while the launch of new SUVs like the Lincoln Navigator and Ford Expedition will lead to a loss of profit in the first quarter. Ford’s incoming chief financial officer, Sherry House, attributed the decline to these factors, adding to concerns about risks posed by emerging threats from electric vehicles (EVs).
