Former Alabama Basketball Player Darius Miles’ Murder Trial Date Set

Former University of Alabama men’s basketball player Darius Miles is set to stand trial for capital murder charges starting December 1, according to ESPN reports. Miles was indicted in March 2023, two months after the January shooting that killed Jamea Jonae Harris on The Strip in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. His co-defendant, Michael Davis, has been found guilty of murder and faces life in prison without parole, with Miles accused of aiding and abetting him.

Davis was convicted of shooting Harris during a shootout with her boyfriend, Cedric Johnson, while she sat in the passenger seat of his car. Miles is also accused of providing Davis with the gun used in the shooting. Former Alabama star forward Brandon Miller testified in the Davis trial, stating he was unaware of the confrontation between Davis and Johnson or that Miles’s gun would be used.

Miller has cooperated with authorities and has not been charged with a crime related to the shooting. Miles has been held without bond since his arrest on January 15, 2023, as he awaits his trial. The new trial date has been set for December 1, according to ESPN reports.
