Fortnite Gamers Receive $126M in Refunds for Unwanted Purchases

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is sending refunds totaling over $126 million to players of the popular video game Fortnite who were charged for unwanted purchases while playing the game. The agency announced that eligible consumers can now submit a claim for compensation until July 9, 2025.

As part of its 2023 settlement with Epic Games, the company agreed to pay $245 million to settle allegations that it used deceptive practices to trick players into making unwanted purchases. So far, the FTC has issued nearly $200 million in refunds to consumers related to Epic’s billing practices.

In December 2024, the FTC sent out 629,344 payments totaling over $72 million. The latest round of refunds will see another 969,173 checks and PayPal payments sent out on June 25 and June 26 to consumers who filed a valid claim. Consumers can choose their payment method when they complete their claim form.

Refund recipients should cash their checks within 90 days or redeem their PayPal payments within 30 days. Those with questions about their payment can contact the refund administrator, Rust Consulting, Inc., at 1-833-915-0880 or via email at [email protected].

The FTC works to promote competition and protect consumers, never demanding money or personal information in exchange for a refund.
