Epic Games has announced the upcoming launch of Ballistic, a new 5v5 First-Person Shooter (FPS) mode in Fortnite, set to release on December 11. This asymmetric game mode features teams attacking and defending against each other, with one team planting a bomb and the other tasked with defusing it or stopping its deployment.
Ballistic’s early access phase will launch with a single map, Skyline 10, which offers a cyberpunk Japanese city setting at sundown. Players must purchase weapons after each round due to limited respawning, adding an element of strategy to the gameplay. The mode supports both ranked and casual play and has promised additional maps, weapons, and features in the future.
This announcement marks Epic’s attempt to create its own FPS experience, competing with popular titles like Counter-Strike, Call of Duty, and Valorant. With a range of cosmetics and skins available for customization, Ballistic promises to be an exciting addition to Fortnite’s growing list of experiences.
The launch of Ballistic signals a new direction for Fortnite, following Epic’s plan to diversify the number of games under its umbrella.
