Apple has approved Epic Games’ Fortnite, ending a five-year ban from the US App Store. The game was removed in 2020 after Epic updated its payment system, allowing users to make purchases directly without Apple’s commission fees. A judge ruled last month that Apple couldn’t charge commissions on app links for payments and must allow apps to be linked like buttons. Fortnite had been pending review since May 9. Apple is now appealing the decision and trying to roll back changes made to the App Store in response. The move follows last month’s ruling, which allowed other major apps, including Amazon and Spotify, to update their content purchase links without changes.
