Fortune’s Run, an indie first-person shooter (FPS), has been put on hold indefinitely due to its solo developer, Dizzie, being sentenced to three years in prison. The game, which launched into Steam early access in September 2023, was praised for its immersive gameplay and dystopian atmosphere.
Dizzie revealed the news in a post titled “Extremely Sad Depressing News,” stating that they had been found guilty of a serious crime and would be serving time before the game’s release can resume. Although Dizzie emphasized that the sentence won’t change their passion for making games, the development process is now at an impasse.
The game’s community has expressed disappointment, but Dizzie assures fans that it isn’t “TOTALLY dead.” Fortune’s Run still has a few updates planned, with the latest update adding significant new content, including stealth mechanics and environmental hazards. However, it remains unclear when or if the game will resume development after Dizzie’s release.
Dizzie expressed gratitude to their community for supporting them during this difficult time, vowing that they’ll “never stop making games.”
