Forza Horizon 5 Japan Setting Leak Revealed

Forza Horizon 5 fans, take note: the next installment in the series may have set its sights on the Land of the Rising Sun. A now-deleted Instagram post by Australian car importer Cult and Classic has seemingly leaked the setting for the upcoming game.

The post, featuring a photographer with @forzahorizonofficial’s Cody, reveals that Kei cars will be used as the basis for the digital versions in the new game. For those unfamiliar, Kei cars are Japan’s smallest expressway-legal motor vehicle, typically used by laborers or farmers and produced exclusively in Japan.

The mention of Kei cars strongly suggests a future game set in Japan, which would mark a departure from previous Forza Horizon games that have focused on European and Latin American settings. Microsoft previously stated that Forza Horizon 5 had enjoyed the biggest launch in Xbox history at the time of its release in November 2021.

The game’s success has been undeniable, with critic Chris Scullion calling it “the best game in the series” and praising its flawless racing, activities, setting, and progression system. With a massive hit on both Xbox and PlayStation 5, Microsoft may be looking to expand the Forza Horizon franchise’s reach into new markets.

While the leak is now gone from Instagram, fans can’t help but speculate about the potential for a Japan-set Forza Horizon game. Could this be the next step in the series’ evolution? Only time will tell.
