Penn State football has four players named to the preseason AP All-America team, a testament to the Nittany Lions’ talented roster. The team’s historic 2022 recruiting class is continuing to shine in the spotlight.
Nick Singleton, Olaivavega Ioane, and Zane Durant were each named first-team AP All-Americans, while Kaytron Allen received an all-purpose designation as second-team All-American. This recognition comes after Penn State earned a No. 2 ranking in the Associated Press preseason poll.
Singleton is racking up awards for his impressive performance last season, which included a career-best 1,099 rushing yards and 17 total touchdowns. He has also been named to several award watch lists, including the Doak Walker, Maxwell, and Walter Camp award watches.
Ioane, the starting left guard, was named to the Outland Trophy watch list for his outstanding performance last season, where he allowed just one quarterback hurry and zero sacks in 497 pass blocking snaps. He is also part of Penn State’s impressive 2022 recruiting class.
Durant, an explosive defensive lineman, has been making a name for himself with 42 tackles (11 for losses) and three sacks in 16 starts last season. He has received attention on award watch lists, including the Nagurski trophy and Bednarik award.
All four players were part of Penn State’s historic recruiting class, which Durant calls “the best recruiting class ever.” The Nittany Lions will face Nevada at Beaver Stadium on August 30th to kick off their season.
