Foxconn Revives Talks for Nissan Tie-up After Honda Deal Fails

Nissan shares surged as much as 6% after reports emerged that Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., the Taiwanese manufacturer behind Foxconn, was reviving talks with Nissan about a potential tie-up. The move comes as the deal between Nissan and Honda Motor Co., which had been struggling to gain traction, appears to be falling apart.

According to CNA, Hon Hai Chairman Young Liu has instructed Jun Seki, a former Nissan executive, to establish communication with Renault SA, the French carmaker that owns about 36% of Nissan’s shares. This development suggests that Foxconn may once again pursue a partnership with Nissan, potentially addressing concerns over Honda’s involvement in the struggling Japanese automaker.
