Framework Laptop 16 Gets 2025 Upgrade with RTX 5070 GPU and Zen 5 CPU

Framework has upgraded its 16-inch laptop with a host of new features, including an Nvidia RTX 5070 graphics module, Ryzen AI CPUs, and a 240W Type-C charger. The base price of the 2025 version has increased to $1,499, making it $200 more expensive than the original model.

The upgrades include a massive performance boost in games due to the new GPU, with Framework claiming a 30-40% increase over its older AMD counterpart. The RTX 5070 module also features improved cooling and reduced noise levels.

Additionally, the 2025 version comes with two new CPU options: Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and Ryzen AI 7 HX 350. These chips provide access to AMD’s latest Zen 5 CPU architecture and a higher core count on the flagship part.

Framework has also introduced its world’s first 240W Type-C charger, supporting USB-PD 3.1 spec. This upgrade allows the laptop to run at maximum power without draining the internal battery while plugged in.

However, the Laptop 16’s increased price may make it a poor value proposition compared to other RTX 5070-powered laptops on the market. Nevertheless, Framework’s DIY flexibility remains a unique selling point for this device.
