Framework, the modular computer company, has unveiled its latest creation – the AMD-powered Laptop 13. The new laptop is designed to be compatible with previous versions of Framework’s 13-inch laptops, allowing users to upgrade their machine without buying a new one.
The Laptop 13 features AMD’s Strix Point Ryzen AI 300 chips, which provide decent portable gaming performance and 50 TOPS of AI processing power. It also boasts a range of upgrades over its predecessor, including a higher-resolution display option and improved cooling system.
The laptop comes with several notable features, such as Wi-Fi 7 connectivity and a new cooling system that reduces buzzing when speakers are amplified. The keyboard has also been revamped, with a plastic structure replacing traditional metal linkages to reduce noise.
Framework’s CEO Nirav Patel claims the company is now the fastest-growing laptop brand, and his statement comes ahead of several recent product announcements, including the new Desktop and Laptop 12 models. With its affordable starting price of $449 for DIY builds or $899 for prebuilt laptops, Framework aims to attract a wider range of customers.
The new Laptop 13 is set to ship in April, with prices reduced for previous-gen AMD notebooks as part of this rollout.
