Framework has announced its latest upgrades to the laptop lineup, introducing new systems and improvements to the existing Framework Laptop 13. The company is now offering two new motherboard options based on AMD’s Ryzen AI 300-series processors, which provide better performance and customizability.
The new boards are available for preorder today, with shipments expected to start in April. Buyers can choose from a range of configurations, including lower-end six- and eight-core models featuring Radeon 840M and 860M GPUs, as well as the top-tier Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 with 12 CPU cores and 16 GPU cores.
The new systems offer improved performance and customizability compared to the original Ryzen Framework board. The front two USB ports support limited speeds, while the rear two are faster at 40Gbps USB4 speeds. However, all four ports now support display output, allowing for more flexibility in terms of customization.
For those looking to build their own system or upgrade an existing laptop, Framework offers a range of options. Owners can purchase pre-built systems starting at $1,099, while DIY kits are available for $899. Those with older Framework Laptops can also buy bare boards to swap into their existing systems, starting at $449.
The new upgrades aim to address some of the limitations of the original Ryzen board, including the limited support for expansion cards and display output. With these improvements, Framework is positioning itself as a leader in laptop customization and repairability.
