France Celebrates PSG Champions League Victory with Chaos and Arrests

Two people died and hundreds were arrested in France after Paris Saint-Germain’s historic Champions League victory. A 17-year-old boy was stabbed to death in Dax during a street party, while another man was killed when his scooter collided with a car. A police officer suffered grave eye injuries from fireworks and is in an artificial coma.

As fans celebrated across the country, clashes broke out in some areas. Over 290 people were arrested, including 30 who broke into a shoe shop on the Champs-Elysees. Two cars were set ablaze close to Parc des Princes. Joyous scenes were also seen at the Place de la Bastille, where fans sang, danced, and lit flares.

Security measures were increased ahead of the match, with 5,400 police officers deployed across Paris and its suburbs. The team is expected to return to a parade on the Champs-Elysees on Sunday after clinching their first Champions League title.
