France Connects Most Powerful Nuclear Reactor After 12-Year Delay

France’s most powerful nuclear reactor, the Flamanville 3 EPR, has finally begun providing electricity to homes after a 12-year delay. The 1,600 MW reactor, which was initially estimated at €3.3 billion, now carries an estimated cost of €13.2 billion due to technical setbacks. The reactor’s start-up is seen as a significant milestone for France’s nuclear energy program, which accounts for around three-fifths of the country’s energy output.
