France’s Schneider Electric Hit with $125k Baguette Ransom Demand

France’s Schneider Electric is facing a ransom demand from hackers who claim to have stolen 40GB of data from the company. The group, linked to the Hellcat ransomware gang, wants $125,000 paid in baguettes if they are not given access to the sensitive information. If Schneider Electric publicly admits to the breach within 48 hours, the ransom would be cut in half to $62,500.

The hackers claim that the stolen data includes company projects, staff information, and user data, weighing over 40GB compressed. However, if Schneider Electric confirms the breach, the ransom demand may decrease. The company has released a statement saying it is investigating the incident and its Global Incident Response team is working to resolve the issue.

Meanwhile, another hacking group called ICA has formed, which does not extort cash from companies if they admit being breached within 48 hours.
