The average American is no longer guaranteed a free annual COVID-19 vaccine, a move that comes as the virus continues to claim lives in the US.
Epidemiologist Jennifer Nuzzo warns that “COVID’s not done with us” and urges continued use of existing tools against the disease. However, recent measures from the Department of Health and Human Services, led by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., may reduce access to vaccines.
The HHS has announced changes that are causing confusion about what will be available for the 2025-2026 season, leaving Americans uncertain about their vaccination options this year.
