French Customs Crack Down on Libido-Boosting Honey Imports

French authorities have seized over 13 tonnes of libido-enhancing honey at the Port of Marseille, highlighting a growing concern over the importation and sale of this banned product in France.

The illicit honey, often sourced from Malaysia, Turkey, Tunisia, and Thailand, contains active ingredients like sildenafil or tadalafil, which are typically prescribed for erectile dysfunction. However, consumption of these products without proper dosage information and monitoring can pose significant health risks.

In recent years, the importation of this honey has surged in France, with thousands of libido-boosting honey sticks found in a single shipment at Marseille port. German customs authorities have also reported a rise in sales of libido-enhancing honey, often sold as shots or sticks under various brand names and marketed as fitness and health products.

Buyers are often unaware of the potential dangers associated with these products, officials warned. In fact, a significant amount of the illicit honey was found in travellers’ luggage at Cologne-Bonn airport last year, highlighting the need for vigilance among consumers.
