FromSoftware’s New Switch 2 Game Won’t Distract from Single-Player Focus

FromSoftware’s next game, The Duskbloods, has been announced as an exclusive Nintendo Switch 2 title. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki reassured fans that the multiplayer-focused game won’t distract the company from developing single-player games. The Duskbloods will feature over a dozen playable characters and customizable options.

The game started as an original Switch title before Nintendo approached FromSoftware to make it for the new console. Miyazaki expressed interest in the PvPvE genre, which allows for diverse game design ideas while leveraging FromSoftware’s expertise in enemy encounters. However, he emphasized that The Duskbloods won’t mark a shift towards multiplayer-only games.

The Switch 2 version of Elden Ring has also been announced, and Miyazaki confirmed that single-player focused titles will continue to be developed. Key features include hub areas where characters provide advice and guidance, much like fire keepers in Dark Souls. The game is scheduled for release in 2026.
