Budget carrier Frontier Airlines is expanding its offerings with the introduction of “first class-style” premium seating, set to arrive in late 2025. The airline will reconfigure aircraft to replace existing first two rows with the new seats, which will feature luxurious and spacious designs. Pricing details are not yet available.
The move follows rival Spirit Airlines’ launch of premium “Go Big” bundles over the summer, allowing passengers to pay extra for items like snacks, drinks, free bags, and priority check-in. This development is part of a broader industry trend towards offering premium products at an added cost.
Southwest Airlines recently announced plans to end its open seating policy, allowing it to charge extra for certain seats with extra legroom. Frontier’s new premium seating initiative is part of the airline’s “The New Frontier” overhaul, which aims to provide customers with more options, including attainable seat upgrades and free companion travel for loyalty members.
Enhanced loyalty benefits will also be introduced, including free seat upgrades for Elite members, free companion travel for certain status levels, and the ability to redeem miles for bags and seat bundles. The airline plans to outline purchase options for the new premium seats closer to their installation and availability.
