FSIS Recalls 143k Pounds of Gaiser’s Deli Meat Due to Mislabeling

The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a massive recall of 143,416 pounds of deli meat products from Gaiser’s European Style Provisions Inc. The reason for the recall is mislabeling, which may lead consumers to unknowingly eat meat or poultry products that are not clearly indicated on the labels.

To identify if you have been affected by this recall, check your package for the following information:

* Family Tree Bologna Veal
* Babushka’s Recipe Chicken Bologna
* Fancy Bologna
* Gaisers Russian Brand Doktorskaya Bologna
* Gaisers Bologna Veal
* Gaisers Turkey Bologna
* Chicken Bologna Kypoyka Paba

All recalled products will have the establishment number “5385” listed inside the USDA mark of inspection. You can also find label images on the USDA’s website to determine if you have the recalled meat.

The FSIS has not received any reports of illnesses or adverse effects associated with eating the recalled bologna, but it is still recommended that consumers do not consume it. If you have purchased bologna from a deli counter between March 20 and June 20 and it does not clearly state the brand name, throw it away or return it to the place of purchase.
