FTC Reaches Long-Awaited Rules to Disclose Hidden Hotel Fees

The Federal Trade Commission has issued long-awaited rules requiring companies to display the full price of hotel rooms, concert tickets, and sporting events up front to customers. This change aims to eliminate “junk fees” – extra charges that are often not clearly disclosed until the end of the checkout process.

Under the new rule, businesses will be required to clearly show all prices, including taxes and other surcharges, before a customer makes a purchase. The goal is to increase transparency and prevent consumers from being surprised by unexpected costs at the checkout stage.
