Fuji TV Executive Found Guilty of Sexual Violence Against Former Star

A third-party panel has concluded that former SMAP member Masahiro Nakai committed “sexual violence” against an unnamed woman at Fuji TV, a broadcaster he worked for. The panel also found that the executives of the company bore significant responsibility for their actions.

The report details how Nakai cornered the woman at his condominium and initiated non-consensual contact. Despite being aware of the incident, the executives took no adequate action to stop it.

Fuji TV’s response to the scandal led to a series of resignations within the company, including its president, chairman, and board director. The company has also announced measures to improve governance and reform corporate culture in order to address human rights issues.

The investigation into Nakai’s actions was sparked by reports last December that raised questions about Fuji TV’s handling of the matter as well as its overall corporate culture.
