Fujifilm Unveils Fujifilm X half Digital Camera Inspired by Half-Frame Film Cameras

Fujifilm has announced its latest digital camera, the Fujifilm X half, which is inspired by half-frame film cameras. The new camera features a unique vertical 1″ sensor design and a fixed wide-angle prime lens, aiming to recreate the feeling of shooting on analog film.

The Fujifilm X half boasts an 18MP 3:4 stills and videos with its vertically oriented sensor, which works alongside Film Simulation modes to produce filmic images. The camera also features exposure compensation dial and manual control settings via the lens’s aperture ring and rear touchscreen.

One of the standout features is the Film Camera Mode, which requires users to choose one specific Film Simulation setting and shoot a 36-72 shot “roll” of film, with results only visible after digitally developing the shots using the FUJIFILM app or transferring files to a computer.

For videographers, the X half records vertical video at 1080 x 1440 at 24 fps, featuring dedicated slow-motion settings up to 200%, and a built-in stereo mic. The camera also features a fixed FUJINON Aspherical 10.8mm f/2.8 lens that offers a 32mm equivalent focal length.

The Fujifilm X half is currently set to retail for $849 in the United States, with various specs and options available for purchase.
