Fungal Contamination Recalls Church & Dwight Products

Church & Dwight has issued a nationwide recall of certain Zicam and Orajel swab products due to possible fungal contamination. The company announced the voluntary recall on June 6 for specific products, including Zicam Cold Remedy Nasal Swabs, Zicam Nasal AllClear Swabs, and Orajel Baby Teething Swabs.

The affected products contain microbial contamination, identified as fungi, in the cotton swab components. Using these swabs can pose a significant risk to consumers’ health, particularly children, people with compromised immune systems, or those with underlying medical conditions. The risks include serious and life-threatening blood infections.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled products should stop using them immediately. To receive a full refund, they can visit Church & Dwight’s recall website (www.churchdwightrecall.com) or call their consumer relations team at (800) 981-4710. Adverse reactions or quality problems can be reported to the FDA’s MedWatch program online, by mail, or by fax.

Note that this recall is limited exclusively to Zicam and Orajel swab products, excluding other Zicam and Orajel items like Zicam RapidMelts.
