Funko Fusion developer 10:10 Games has laid off 19 roles in January, following a poor launch in September 2024. This move is part of an alarming trend in layoffs across the gaming industry this year.
Other studios have also cut jobs recently. In January, Ubisoft shut down one studio and let go of employees, while Rocksteady announced job cuts after the disappointing performance of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Rumbleverse’s developer, Smite 2’s team, and Crysis creator have also confirmed job losses in February.
The layoffs at 10:10 Games are attributed to Funko Fusion’s poor launch. Insiders described it as a “complete commercial and critical failure.” The game’s disappointing performance led the studio to raise funds for only one project at a time. As a result, the layoff decision focused on the next project, which is still in development.
Notably, job cuts did not affect upper-management roles. The layoffs are a reflection of the industry trend of restructuring due to underwhelming game launches.
