The Texas Education Agency has extended its application deadline for the soon-to-be appointed board of managers at Fort Worth ISD due to high interest from potential candidates. As of December, over 180 applications have been received, with another 800 in progress. While state law does not require managers to live within the district, TEA officials say previous appointees were chosen based on their connection to the community. The agency is reviewing each application thoroughly and encourages anyone who wants to serve to apply. This decision comes after Texas intervened in FWISD’s operations due to low academic performance and the district’s appeal against state control.
