Actress Gal Gadot recently opened up about her terrifying experience with a massive blood clot in the brain during her fourth pregnancy. The Wonder Woman star, who welcomed her daughter Ori just hours after undergoing emergency surgery, shared that an MRI revealed the frightening truth.
According to Dr Mansi Sharma, consultant – obstetrician and gynaecologist at Motherhood Hospital, Kharadi, Pune, blood clots in the brain during pregnancy are rare but serious conditions. “Pregnant women should be cautious and take extra care of their health,” she advised. “One should actively look for symptoms like severe headaches, vision problems, dizziness, or numbness.”
Dr Sharma emphasized that identifying early signs is crucial, as it’s treatable. She also highlighted the importance of preventive measures, such as light exercise, drinking enough water, and managing blood pressure.
Treatment for cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST), a condition characterized by blood clots in the brain, often involves medications to dissolve the clot and prevent new ones from forming. In severe cases, surgery may be necessary.
Gadot’s story serves as a wake-up call, urging pregnant women to prioritize their health and take action if they experience any unusual symptoms. As Dr Sharma noted, “Healing and recovery may vary from person to person,” but with proper medical attention and follow-up care, it is possible to recover.
The article aims to raise awareness about CVST during pregnancy, a condition that affects approximately 3 in 100,000 pregnant women in the 30s+ age group. By sharing her experience and emphasizing the importance of early detection and prevention, Gadot hopes to empower others to take control of their health.
