Game Informer Revival Underway with Returning Staff

Game Informer, a beloved video game publication, has made a triumphant return after its abrupt closure by owner GameStop last August. The entire staff from the time of shutdown will rejoin, and the site is now online again, hosting new and older articles.

According to executive editor Kyle Hilliard, the returning team includes all departments: production, design, video, editorial, and more. They have also regained access to social media and video accounts, featuring new content created during the hiatus period.

The magazine will make a comeback in both print and digital formats, with memberships and subscriptions to be announced later. Game Informer was acquired by Gunzilla Games, which operates as an independent entity, ensuring editorial freedom.

Editor-in-chief Matt Miller emphasized that all editorial content is selected solely by the editorial team without outside influence from new owners or GameStop. The focus on maintaining editorial integrity has been crucial to Game Informer’s success since its inception in the 1990s.

Gunzilla Games’ first game, Off The Grid, a free-to-play extraction shooter, has entered early access. This is followed by GUNZ, a blockchain-based digital economy platform aimed at empowering players with full ownership of in-game items as tradable NFTs.

Many staff members have seen significant raises and promotions, offering a new beginning for the team after their tumultuous experience with GameStop. With its renewed commitment to editorial independence, Game Informer is poised to continue its legacy in video game journalism.
