Games We’ve Been Playing This Christmas

This week, we’re diving into some festive fun with open-world dress-up games, puzzle-filled Botany Manor on Xbox Series X, and the whimsical world of Infinity Nikki.

Astro Bot on PS5 got a free winter-themed level, which immediately caught our attention. We also played through Botany Manor, a sedate puzzle game where players must grow rare and exotic plants under specific circumstances to bloom. The game requires brain power to figure out the conditions needed for each plant, making it an engaging experience.

For those who enjoy open-world exploration, Infinity Nikki is a must-play. Its massive world invites you to explore fairy tale sights, ride on giant bird-like creatures, and customize your character with thousands of outfits. Despite its flaws, such as bugs at launch and collectibles, the game’s upbeat atmosphere makes it an enjoyable experience.

On PS5, Dragon Age: The Veilguard offered a more streamlined gameplay experience compared to other games in the series. Its new visual style gives the game its own identity, with rounded characters and soft lighting that feel like a Pixar fantasy. While it had some drawbacks, such as repetitive combat and dated quest design, the game’s relaxing atmosphere made it a welcome change of pace.
