A deadly Israeli drone attack on a humanitarian aid convoy in the Gaza Strip has killed at least 12 people, injuring dozens more, as the region grapples with an escalating hunger crisis.
The bombing targeted security guards escorting the aid shipment in southern Gaza, where food shortages and fears of famine have been intensifying. The attack is the latest by Israeli forces on humanitarian aid workers and convoys attempting to deliver food and supplies to the war-torn territory.
At least 30 people were injured, including several in critical condition, following the Israeli attack. Palestinian residents reported seeing bodies stacked in a morgue belonging to the security personnel who were targeted.
Gaza has been gripped by severe food shortages, with no fresh fruit or vegetables having been imported into the region for over a month, according to UN officials. This dire situation has sparked widespread hunger and fears of famine in northern Gaza, where an Israeli military ground operation and siege have been ongoing for several weeks.
The attack on security guards protecting an aid shipment comes amid reports of six people, including children, killed in an Israeli attack on a residential building in western Gaza City, while the death toll rose to 13 following Israel’s bombing of a house in the Nuseirat refugee camp.
