Caring for others in Gaza has taken a toll on its aid workers. George Anton, operations manager of an aid-distribution program through the Holy Family Catholic Church in Gaza City, is no exception. He and his wife share a small room with their three daughters, where 400 people take refuge from the war.
The church’s sanctuary was compromised when an Israeli tank shell struck last month, killing three people. Although daily fighting has eased, the church cannot resume aid programs, including food hampers, laundry services, and psychosocial support. With supplies depleted, Anton is racing against time to find a solution, struggling with hunger as he searches for more food to distribute.
The lack of aid highlights the human cost of the conflict in Gaza. As fighting continues, its residents face unprecedented challenges, including hunger and desperation. The international community’s response will be crucial in supporting those affected by this devastating war.
