Gaza City Residents Flee After Night of Intensive Shelling

Gaza City residents fled in large numbers on Tuesday after a night of intense shelling by Israel, leaving hundreds of homes destroyed and thousands displaced. The Israeli military said it was operating in the area to locate weapons and destroy tunnels used by militants.

Eyewitnesses described the shelling as “earthquakes” that aimed to scare people away from their homes. Despite this, many residents remain in their shelters, fearing a new military offensive.

The situation has sparked widespread international condemnation and protests. Israel plans to launch a new operation in Gaza City, which it describes as Hamas’s last stronghold.

In recent days, thousands of Palestinians have moved westward into the city and along its coast, joining those who have already left for southern and central Gaza. The attack on Nasser Hospital on Monday killed at least 20 people, including journalists from major news agencies.
