A new study published in The Lancet has revealed a staggering death toll in the Gaza Strip. According to the research, approximately 70,000 people may have died due to traumatic injury since the conflict began. This number represents 60% of total deaths and significantly exceeds Hamas’ Health Ministry’s reported figures.
The study highlights that many victims were women and children, underscoring the devastating humanitarian crisis in the region. The Lancet’s findings also emphasize the importance of considering all causes of death, including those related to starvation, disease, and cold, which are not accounted for in Hamas’ reports.
This research offers a more comprehensive understanding of the conflict’s impact on civilians and underscores the need for increased attention to humanitarian aid and support efforts.
