Israeli strikes on Gaza killed at least 33 people, including children, in overnight attacks. The violence also flared outside Jerusalem, where a suspected Palestinian attacker wounded three people, including a 10-year-old boy.
The Israel-Hamas war shows no end in sight, despite attempts by the US and other countries to broker a ceasefire. The UN General Assembly approved resolutions demanding an immediate halt to fighting, with 158 countries voting in favor and nine against.
Palestinian health officials said that a strike in a home sheltering displaced people killed 19 people, including four children and two grandparents. Another attack near a hospital killed a woman and her two children.
The war has left thousands of Palestinians homeless and without access to basic necessities like food, water, and healthcare. The UN says civilians face an “utterly devastating situation” as law and order break down and aid cannot reach them.
Ceasefire talks have stalled, with Hamas refusing to release the remaining hostages unless an end to the war is agreed. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has pledged to continue the war until Hamas is destroyed.
The conflict has killed over 44,000 Palestinians in Gaza and injured thousands more. The US and other countries are working to broker a peaceful resolution, but the situation remains dire for civilians in Gaza.
