Palestinian authorities have reported at least 33 deaths in an Israeli strike on the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza. The attack has been described as a “barbaric and heinous massacre” by Palestinian officials, with many victims belonging to the al-Sheikh Ali family.
Eyewitnesses say that Israeli fire targeted a postal office sheltering displaced families, as well as nearby houses. At least 50 people were wounded in the strike, bringing the total death toll to over 30.
The attack is part of an ongoing campaign by Israel, which has already killed over 44,800 Palestinians in Gaza since the start of the war. Experts warn that the true death toll may be much higher due to underreporting and lack of access to medical services.
Human rights groups have condemned Israeli actions as genocide, citing repeated attacks on healthcare facilities, journalists, and aid workers. A recent report by Airwars has described Israel’s campaign in Gaza as “the most intense, destructive, and fatal conflict for civilians” since its establishment in 2014.
Thursday’s attack was one of several strikes in Gaza throughout the day. The Israeli occupation army has yet to comment on the strike.
