The lack of access to clean water has led to a significant increase in cases of acute watery diarrhea and jaundice, both spread via contaminated water. Medical facilities are under pressure, with hospitals facing closures and staff arrests due to allegations of militant activity.
The situation is exacerbated by Israeli restrictions on fuel imports, which have halted desalination activities and damaged existing infrastructure. Human Rights Watch has reported that Israel’s actions are intentionally depriving Palestinians in Gaza of safe drinking water.

“It’s been over a year of mass killing, starvation, displacement and misery, and no one seems to care,” Ms. Moen said, highlighting the desperation and frustration felt by many in Gaza.
