Gemini App Gets Personalized Features and Data Controls

Gemini is rolling out temporary chat features, new personalization options, and enhanced data controls to make the AI assistant more proactive, powerful, and user-friendly.

The updates allow Gemini to learn from past chats and deliver more personalized responses over time. This feature is now available in select countries with the 2.5 Pro model and will be expanded to more countries and models in the coming weeks. Users can toggle this setting on or off at any time by heading to Settings in the Gemini app.

Temporary Chats provide a way to have quick, one-off conversations without influencing future chats. These temporary chats won’t affect personalization or train Google’s AI models but will be kept for up to 72 hours to respond to users and process feedback.

Gemini also introduces new settings that give users more control over their data. The “Keep Activity” setting will now sample future uploads to improve Google services, while a separate setting allows users to choose whether audio, video, and screens shared with Gemini are used for this purpose. Users can adjust these settings whenever they like by visiting the Gemini Apps Privacy Hub.

These updates aim to provide users with more transparency, control, and personalization in their interactions with the Gemini app.
