Google is rolling out an update to the Gemini app on iPhone that allows users to select 2.0 Flash Experimental. The new feature, available in a model picker at the top of the screen, promises to offer twice the speed and improved performance compared to existing models.
The update also introduces two new Extensions: Google Home and Google Photos, which enable smart home control and photo analysis, respectively. Users can now upload images for analysis, but must join the Google Home Public Preview program to access the first extension.
Other notable features include expanded language support, with Gemini available in 11 more languages and Gemini Live in 21 more languages. Additionally, a “Saved info” feature has been added, allowing users to view their saved information at gemini.google.com/saved-info.
The new update is expected to hit general availability in January, with the Deep Research feature debuting on desktop/mobile web in early 2025. Gemini subscribers can also use the newly introduced “2.0 Experimental Advanced” model, which offers significantly improved performance.
Note: Due to a technical limitation, users may not be able to use the 2.0 Flash Experimental model yet, and its file upload feature is currently unavailable.
