Google has rolled out its popular Gemini feature to more Android phones, making it available for free users on a wider scale. The “Talk Live about” feature, which allows users to converse with the chatbot about their screen, is now accessible to select Samsung phones.
The feature was initially introduced in January 2023 and was limited to specific models such as the Pixel 9 series and Galaxy S24/S25. However, recent updates have expanded its availability to more older devices.
To use Gemini’s “Talk Live about” feature, users can open the app or use the “Hey Google” feature on their device. They can then select a file or photo from their gallery, upload it, or take a new photo. Once they’ve done so, a “Talk live about this” button will appear, allowing them to ask Gemini questions.
The chatbot can analyze documents and provide summaries, identify objects in images, and offer context for YouTube videos. Users can also converse with Gemini about files, but only if they allow access to the file’s contents.
Samsung models are now gaining the ability to run Gemini Live while on the camera viewfinder, allowing users to ask questions about subjects in the frame. The feature will be available as a free update for Galaxy S25 models first.
This expansion of Gemini’s capabilities is a significant upgrade for Android phone users, offering new ways to interact with the chatbot and access information on their device.
