Gene Hackman, the late Hollywood star known for his roles in “Hoosiers” and “Crimson Tide,” died under mysterious circumstances. His wife, Betsy Arakawa, and their dog also perished in their Santa Fe home.
Initial suspicions pointed to carbon monoxide poisoning due to the presence of both victims and a deceased pet in the same location. However, authorities have since ruled out this cause.
In an interview with People magazine, friends of Hackman revealed that his condition had deteriorated significantly in the “last couple of months.” Daniel and Barbara Lenihan described him as being “essentially homebound” due to poor health. Despite this, Hackman’s wife, Betsy, was reportedly in perfect health.
Friend Stuart Ashman added that COVID-19 had a significant impact on Hackman’s life, making him more reclusive. As investigations continue into the cause of death, the mystery surrounding Hackman’s final days remains unsolved.
