Gene Hackman’s Death Investigation Enters Second Phase Amid Health Decline Details

Investigations into the mysterious deaths of Hollywood actor Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa have entered their second phase, as more details emerge about their health in the final month of their lives.

Contrary to speculation that carbon monoxide poisoning caused their deaths, Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza has confirmed that both bodies showed no signs of external trauma. Hackman’s pacemaker had stopped functioning on February 17th, suggesting he may have been dead for at least a week before his body was discovered.

Friends and family describe Hackman as increasingly homebound in recent months, including a halt to his bike riding through the neighborhood. Aaron Lenihan, a close friend of the couple, said Betsy Arakawa took great care to keep him active and engaged, despite her own efforts to keep him healthy during his twilight years.

However, this contrasts with accounts from Hackman’s family, including daughter Leslie Ann Hackman, who claimed there was no indication of any health issues before his death. The situation is similar for Arakawa’s mother, Yoshie Feaster, whose regular calls had stopped in October – a timeframe that coincides with the “couple of months” of silence from Leslie Ann about her father.

Sheriff Mendoza has repeated that he does not believe foul play was involved and is still putting together a timeline of the past few months. Toxicology reports for Hackman and Arakawa are expected in a few months, as investigators continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
