Gene Hackman’s Dog Identified Correctly Amid Mystery Surrounding Actor’s Death

Gene Hackman, a renowned actor, and his wife Betsy Arakawa have been found dead in their Santa Fe home. Initially, authorities believed one of their dogs, Bear, had died. However, it has been confirmed that the dog, along with another pet named Nikita, survived.

The couple’s kelpie mix, Zinna, was mistakenly identified as the deceased dog due to a misidentification by sheriff’s deputies. The deputies stated they don’t work with canines on a daily basis and were incorrect in their assessment.

A thorough investigation has revealed that both bodies were discovered partially mummified, which suggests they may have died up to two weeks earlier than initially reported. Arakawa’s body had an open prescription bottle and scattered pills, while Hackman’s remains were found near the entryway.

Toxicology reports are still pending, but authorities have ruled out carbon monoxide poisoning due to a lack of gas leaks in or around the home. A utility company inspection also found a small leak on one burner that was deemed non-lethal.

The sheriff’s office has corrected the record, and the investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of death for Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa.
