Gene Hackman’s family is facing an unexpected challenge after the sudden deaths of both actor Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa. With Arakawa’s passing, the responsibility for making funeral arrangements for Hackman now falls on his three children: Christopher, Elizabeth, and Leslie.
According to Tim Hackman, Gene’s nephew, the family had assumed that Arakawa would handle all the details in case of their husband’s or father’s passing first. However, with both deaths occurring around the same time, the family is now left without a plan.
“We had prepared for that eventuality,” Tim said. “But now it’s a bit more complicated. I’m assuming one of his kids will probably take over and handle the plans.”
The cause of Hackman’s death was determined to be advanced Alzheimer’s disease, as well as significant heart disease. Arakawa, who took care of Hackman in his later years, died of a rare disease typically transmitted by rodents.
With Hackman’s funeral arrangements now up in the air, his children must navigate this difficult situation and come together to make necessary decisions for their late father’s final farewell.
