General Hospital Star Leslie Charleson Passes Away at 79

Soap opera legend Leslie Charleson, who played iconic character Monica Quartermaine on ABC’s General Hospital for nearly five decades, has passed away at the age of 79 due to sequelae of blunt head trauma. The four-time Daytime Emmy nominee joined the show in 1977 and remained a beloved fixture for 46 years before exiting in December 2023.

Born with an interest in acting, Charleson started her career in television appearances on soaps A Flame in the Wind and As the World Turns. She also guest-starred in notable series such as Friends, Dharma and Greg, and appeared in several classic TV shows of the 1970s, including Adam-12, Emergency!, Ironside, and Happy Days.

Charleson advocated for breast cancer awareness, particularly through her portrayal of Monica’s diagnosis with the disease in the mid-1990s. She leaves behind a legacy as a talented actress who inspired fans worldwide.
