Geno Smith Suffers Knee Injury in Seahawks’ Loss to Packers

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith suffered a knee injury during Sunday night’s 30-13 loss to the Green Bay Packers. The extent of the injury is unclear, but coach Mike Macdonald said structurally it appears to be okay.

Smith was hit low by Packers linebacker Edgerrin Cooper on a pass attempt in the third quarter and didn’t return to the game. He underwent further evaluation after being replaced by Sam Howell.

The Seahawks are now 8-6, tied for first place with the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC West. Smith’s health will be crucial to their playoff chances, which dropped to 37% following Sunday’s loss.

Coach Macdonald said Smith initially wanted to return but couldn’t due to the severity of the injury. The team will conduct further tests and imaging to determine the extent of the injury. A potential timeline for Smith’s return isn’t yet clear.
