George R.R. Martin has shared an update about his long-awaited novel, The Winds of Winter, as well as a new animated feature project. On May 28, the author posted on his official website that he’s working on adapting Howard Waldrop’s novella A Dozen Tough Jobs into an animated film. In the same post, Martin addressed fans’ anticipation for updates on The Winds of Winter, jokingly saying he’ll “never finish” the book if he completes it.
Martin stated that despite his age and health concerns, he still cares deeply about his characters, including those from Westeros and The Winds of Winter series. He acknowledged that some fans may be disappointed by this announcement but emphasized his commitment to the projects.
The author previously mentioned in 2023 that he was struggling with completing The Winds of Winter, estimating it would take around 400-500 pages to finish. Martin has since clarified that he’s focusing on working on smaller projects while still prioritizing The Winds of Winter series.
