The Hawaii Department of Health has issued a recall and discontinuation of the Gerber brand Soothe N Chew Teething Sticks due to a potential choking hazard that poses a risk to babies and small children. The recall affects products with specific lot codes and sizes, including Strawberry Apple, Banana, and Banana 1.59 oz. versions.
Gerber Products Company is responsible for issuing the recall, which was triggered by concerns over the product’s safety. The recalled products were distributed nationwide, including in stores and supermarkets in Hawaii. To ensure public safety, the Food and Drug Branch (FDB) is working with retailers to remove the affected products from sale.
Consumers who purchased the recalled products are advised not to feed them to their children and can return them to the retailer for a refund. If you have concerns about your child’s safety or suspect an injury, contact your healthcare provider immediately and call 911 in case of an emergency. Gerber has reported one emergency room visit nationally, although no further details are available.
For more information on the recall, consumers can contact Gerber at 1-800-GERBER (7237).
