Germany Advances to Nations League Semis After Italian Comeback

Germany secured a spot in the Nations League semi-finals after a thrilling 2-1 comeback win over Italy at Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund. The German team took advantage of several Italian mistakes, including goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma’s error, to take an early lead.

Donnarumma’s mistake allowed Jamal Musiala to score the opening goal, and Germany further extended their lead before halftime with a goal from Tim Kleindienst. However, Italy mounted a strong second-half comeback, with Moise Kean scoring two goals to level the game at 3-3 on aggregate.

Despite being unable to find another goal to take the tie into extra-time, Italy’s late equalizer set up a tense conclusion. In the end, Germany’s lead was enough to secure their spot in the semi-finals, where they will host Portugal in June. The win also sets up Germany for World Cup qualifying Group A, along with Luxembourg, Northern Ireland, and Slovakia.
