A woman in Germany sent an email warning of the plans of Taleb Al-Abdulmohsen, suspected of killing five people at a Christmas market in Magdeburg. However, she mistakenly emailed it to Berlin Borough police in New Jersey instead of German authorities. The email read: “do not blame me if i kill randomly 20 german people” and was sent on Twitter as well.
Al-Abdulmohsen is accused of deliberately speeding into a crowd at the market, killing four women and a 9-year-old boy while injuring over 200 people. German authorities have described him as an Islamophobe, but the motive behind the attack remains unknown.
The Berlin Borough police department’s email system filters out spam from other countries, which may explain why they didn’t receive the warning. The police chief stated that the email was either blocked or went to spam and had no knowledge of it.
