PlayStation has begun to lift the veil on its upcoming sequel, Ghost of Yotei, which is set to be released in 2025. The game’s official website now features new details, including a clearer understanding of the narrative.
The story follows Atsu, a protagonist who embarks on a quest for vengeance after the death of her family. Players will engage in odd jobs and bounties to gather coins for her journey, while also determining how she fights, survives, and evolves as a legendary warrior.
Notably, some fans have expressed frustration over the similarity between Atsu’s narrative and that of Jin from Ghost of Tsushima, which followed a similar quest for revenge following the Mongol invasion. However, it is possible that Ghost of Yotei will deliver a unique experience while maintaining elements from the original game.
One key difference between the two games lies in its development: Ghost of Yotei was built specifically for PlayStation 5 consoles, offering enhanced gameplay and features. The updated website reveals new areas Atsu will explore on her quest, as well as previously unreleased weapons such as odachi, kusarigama, and dual katanas.
With a potential release window in 2025, fans can expect more information about Ghost of Yotei to be revealed over the coming months. Given the anticipation surrounding both this game and Grand Theft Auto VI, it is possible that Sony will avoid the holiday season release window for strategic reasons.
